Home of Tasmania's First Friesian.
Established in 2000 Wallbrook offers Tasmanian's a unique experience - to touch a 'real' Friesian!
We leased Ulrika from Black Minx Stud in Victoria, to promote the Friesian horse here in Tasmania. Ulrika had the honour of being the very first pure bred Friesian to come to Tasmania. She is truly a magnificent example of this incredible breed.
Many people have never heard of a Friesian horse, let alone seen one in the flesh. Ulrika was here to share with others that have a special place in their hearts for this magnificent breed of horse.
Ulrika has since returned home to Black Minx stud, as has her son Eitsje but our very own beautiful Friesian mare Kestrel, fills her hooves very well, as does our new colt Remus fill the hooves of Eitsje. With Vanja and Vamke here maturing into exotic examples of the breed - our future is very exciting.
The Friesian population has increased so much in Tasmania since our introduction of Ulrika that we often see a good line up of Friesians at shows around the state and we plan to continue to promote Friesians in a positive manner. Our aim at Wallbrook is to educate and exhibit Friesians statewide. To show people they true type of the horse and the magical character within.
I have adored these magnificent creatures for years - not just for their stunning looks, but also for their versatility and superb temperament.
Watch the movie 'Lady Hawk' to get inspired! There you will see a magnificent Friesian in all its glory.
My obsession started with Reimke, a part-bred Friesian filly. But as others with Friesians will know, you just cant stop at a part bred and when you finally get your purebred - you cant stop at one!
Our main shed incorporate a tack and feed area, preg testing crush and two stables, one standard size (well bigger than standard to fit our big girls in) and a foaling stall.
Our mares are equipped with a foaling alarm prior to foaling so we can assist if required and then imprint the babies. They receive nothing but the best of everything to ensure safe foaling & healthy foals. We have a flood lit foaling yards close to the house so mares & foals can be observed at all times.
Emphasis is put into pasture & top quality hay production, with horse specific grasses sown in. Minerals and supplements are available to our girls at all times.
